India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets to win the Asia Cup trophy, A brilliant innings by Tilak Varma, India refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan.

 India vs Pakistan T20 Asia Cup 2025: India won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kuldeep Yadav's superb bowling helped India bundle out Pakistan for 146 in 19.1 overs. Chasing the target, Tilak scored an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes, helping India reach 150 for five in 19.4 overs.

India has won the Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan. The Indian team has won the T20 format Asia Cup in 2025 after the ODI format in 2023. Tilak Verma performed brilliantly for India and gave the team an unprecedented victory by staying till the end. India won the toss in this match and decided to bowl first. With the help of Kuldeep Yadav's brilliant bowling, India bundled out Pakistan's innings for 146 runs in 19.1 overs. Chasing the target, Tilak scored an unbeaten 69 runs in 53 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes, on the basis of which India won the match by scoring 150 runs for five wickets in 19.4 overs.

Rinku Singh hits the winning boundary

Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary for India. The Indian dressing room and the spectators on the field erupted in joy as Rinku hit the boundary. Even head coach Gautam Gambhir couldn't contain his excitement. Tilak, who played a fighting innings, waved his bat in joy, leaving the Pakistani players standing with their heads down. This is India's third consecutive victory over Pakistan in this tournament, and the Suryakumar Yadav-led team has thus achieved a hat-trick of victories against Pakistan.

India's Poor Start

Chasing the target, India had a poor start, losing three wickets in the powerplay. Three Indian batsmen—Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and captain Suryakumar Yadav—were dismissed for a combined score of 20, leaving the Indian team in trouble. Abhishek's bat had been impressive throughout the tournament, but in this match, he was dismissed for five runs. Suryakumar Yadav then failed again, scoring one run. Before India could recover from these two setbacks, Faheem Ashraf dismissed Shubman Gill, shattering India's innings.

Tilak Steered the Innings with Samson

After the initial setbacks, Tilak, along with Sanju Samson, steadied India's innings. Both batsmen played steadily. However, Samson also received a reprieve. While Samson couldn't fully capitalize on this, he and Tilak shared a 57-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Samson tried to play a big shot and was dismissed for 24. Samson may not have played a big innings, but his support for Tilak proved crucial for India.

Dubey's Aggressive Style

India had lost four wickets at 77, and Shivam Dubey came in to support Tilak. Dubey initially played some impressive shots that saved him from getting out. A misunderstanding between Dubey and Tilak saved Tilak from being run out. After that, the two responsibly steered the innings forward. Dubey displayed his aggressive approach, hitting boundaries to keep the pressure from rising as the required run rate increased. Meanwhile, Tilak completed his half-century. With India needing 10 runs from seven balls, Shivam Dubey played a big shot off Faheem Ashraf, but was caught by Shaheen Afridi on the boundary. Dubey finished with 33 runs off 22 balls, including two fours and two sixes.

Spinners Showed Their Strength

Pakistan set a target of 147 runs for India in the Asia Cup final. India won the toss and elected to bowl first, and thanks to the brilliant bowling of wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, the team did not allow Pakistan to play the full 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan top-scored for Pakistan with 57 runs. Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan a solid start and prevented India from achieving any breakthrough in the powerplay. Sahibzada also scored a half-century, but Varun Chakravarthy broke the partnership by dismissing Sahibzada. Following this, Pakistan's rhythm deteriorated and they began losing wickets at regular intervals.

Fakhar Zaman scored 46 and Saim Ayub scored 14 for Pakistan. Pakistan's batting faltered so much that no batsman other than their top three batsmen could even reach double figures. Three Pakistani batsmen Mohammad Haris, Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf could not even open their account, while captain Salman Agha scored 8, Hussain Talat scored 1, Mohammad Nawaz scored 6 and Haris Rauf scored 6 runs. Abrar Ahmed remained unbeaten after scoring one run. Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for India. Whereas, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakraborty and Akshar Patel got two wickets each.
