England became the 3rd team to score 300 runs, Jos Buttler and Philip Salt rained runs, Salt scored the 4th century of his career.

 England is the first full-time member nation to cross the 300-run mark in T20 cricket. With this thumping win, England has leveled the three-match series 1-1.

England defeated South Africa by 146 runs in the second T20 match on the basis of a century partnership between Phil Salt and Jos Butler. England performed well in this match and became the third team to score 300 runs in T20. England is the first full-time member country to cross the 300-run mark in fast cricket. With this spectacular victory, England has achieved a 1-1 draw in the three-match series.

England left India behind

South Africa won the toss and invited England to bat first in the match played at Old Trafford, Manchester, but the pair of Salt and Butler gave the team a strong start, due to which England was able to score 304 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target, South Africa's team was all out for 158 runs in 16.1 overs. This is England's highest score in T20 and it became the third country to score 300 runs in the shortest format of the game after Nepal and Zimbabwe. However, no one has been able to do this till now among the full-time member countries of the ICC and England is the first full-time member team to score 300 runs in T20. England left behind the Indian team in this matter, which had the record of scoring 297 runs for six wickets in T20.

Salt-Butler's century partnership

For England, Salt and Butler gave the team a strong start by sharing 126 runs for the first wicket. Butler was out after scoring 83 runs off 30 balls with the help of eight fours and seven sixes. After this, Salt shared a 95-run partnership for the second wicket with Jacob Bethel. Bethel returned to the pavilion after scoring 26 runs off 14 balls. Salt still stood firm and managed to score a century. Captain Harry Brook came to support him and both batsmen shared an unbeaten partnership of 83 runs for the third wicket. Salt remained unbeaten on 141 off 60 balls with the help of 15 fours and eight sixes and Brook returned unbeaten on 41 off 21 balls with the help of five fours and one six. While chasing the target, no batsman could play a big innings for South Africa and it had to face a crushing defeat by 146 runs.
