India, after losing the toss to Zimbabwe, scored 256 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. This is the second-highest total in T20 World Cup history. Sanju Samson (26 off 15 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (55 off 30 balls) gave India a quick start, adding 48 runs. Abhishek, who had struggled with poor form in the previous four matches, hit four fours and four sixes. Abhishek shared a 72-run partnership for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan (38 off 24 balls). Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs in 13 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Surya was dismissed in the 15th over, after which Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma took India to a huge total. The two shared an unbroken 84-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Hardik scored an unbeaten 50 off 23 balls, hitting two fours and four sixes. Tilak made an unbeaten 44 off 14 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes. For Zimbabwe, Tinotenda Maphosa, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, and captain Sikandar Raza took one wicket each.

India set a target of 257 at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. In response, Zimbabwe scored 184 for six. Zimbabwe may have lost, but opener Brian Bennett batted brilliantly. He scored an unbeaten 97 off 59 balls, studded with eight fours and six sixes. Tadiwanashe Marumani scored 20, captain Sikandar Raza 30, and Tony Munyonga 11. Tashinga Musekiwa scored seven, while Dion Myers hit six. Ryan Burl remained unbeaten. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for India. Axar Patel, Shivam Dubey, and Varun Chakravarthy each took one wicket. India now faces the West Indies in the final Super 8 match (March 1) in Kolkata. The winner of this match will qualify for the semi-finals.
Half-centuries by Abhishek and Hardik Pandya
Abhishek Sharma top-scored for India with a 55-run knock, facing 30 balls and hitting four fours and four sixes. Ishan Kishan scored 38 runs off 24 balls, while Sanju Samson scored 24 runs off 15 balls. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs off 13 balls. Finally, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma played aggressively. Hardik reached his 50 runs off just 23 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Tilak scored 44 runs off 16 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes.
Second-highest score in T20 World Cup history
Team India has posted the second-highest score in T20 World Cup history. Sri Lanka holds the record for the highest total, scoring 260 against Kenya in 2007. This record remains unbroken. However, this is now India's highest total in a T20 World Cup. India scored 218 against England in 2007.
