In the WPL 2026 final played today at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a spectacular victory against Delhi Capitals (DC), clinching their second WPL title. Delhi has now lost the final for the fourth time.

In the final match of the fourth season of the WPL, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, her decision did not prove fruitful as Delhi Capitals posted a formidable score of 203 runs, a challenging target for RCB. Lizelle Lee scored 37 runs off 30 balls for Delhi Capitals. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues played a half-century innings, and in the end, Wolvaardt also contributed with some quick runs.

Chasing a massive target of 204 runs, RCB had a shaky start, losing their first wicket, Grace Harris, at a score of 9 runs. However, Georgia Wareham, who hadn't performed well throughout the season, then took charge and, along with captain Smriti Mandhana, forged a record-breaking partnership of over 150 runs, making the match one-sided.

The match became exciting when RCB needed 45 runs from more than 30 balls and Georgia Wareham was caught out at the boundary line. The seemingly easy target became even more difficult after Richa Ghosh was dismissed. The tension further increased when captain Mandhana was bowled out.

However, De Klerk hit a couple of boundaries, bringing the match back in RCB's favor. 10 runs were needed in the last over. Radha Yadav was on strike for the first ball. She took a single, and De Klerk also couldn't hit a big shot and took a single. Now 8 runs were needed from four balls. Radha Yadav hit two consecutive fours in the next two balls, finishing the match and making RCB champions for the second time. For RCB, Georgia Wareham scored 79 runs and captain Smriti Mandhana contributed 82, while Radha Yadav added a valuable 12 runs and Clark chipped in with 7 runs, including a boundary.

This match was nothing short of a test of fire for Delhi Capitals, as they had reached the final for the fourth consecutive time, but had suffered defeat on the previous three occasions. Under the captaincy of Jemimah Rodrigues, the team had navigated a rollercoaster league stage and won the Eliminator to reach this point, but ultimately faced defeat in their fourth consecutive final.

The Bengaluru team, led by Smriti Mandhana, was brimming with confidence. They had secured a direct spot in the final with a stellar performance in the league stage and were now eyeing their second title. The pitch in Vadodara was conducive to spinners, and chasing a score of over 160 on this ground had proven challenging. The question was whether Delhi would shed their 'chokers' tag and lift the trophy for the first time, or would Bengaluru's dominance continue? The answer is now clear. Delhi still carries the 'chokers' tag, and RCB has made history by winning their second title.
