India defeated New Zealand by seven wickets to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series. After losing the toss and being put in to bat first, New Zealand scored 208 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, India chased down the target in 15.2 overs, losing only three wickets.
Ishan Kishan's explosive innings turned the game around, and Suryakumar Yadav also shone.
The Indian team's chase didn't get off to a great start. Sanju Samson was dismissed for just 6 runs by Matt Henry, while Abhishek Sharma was out on his very first ball, dismissed by Jacob Duffy. After losing two wickets for 6 runs, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan forged a blistering 122-run partnership for the third wicket. During this partnership, Ishan Kishan completed his half-century in 21 balls with the help of 9 fours and two sixes. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also didn't hold back from playing aggressive shots. Ishan Kishan was dismissed after scoring 76 runs. He faced 32 balls and hit 11 fours and four sixes in his innings. After Ishan's dismissal, Surya and Shivam guided the team to victory. Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant innings of 82 runs off 37 balls, including 9 fours and 4 sixes. Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 36 runs off 18 balls, hitting 3 sixes and one four.
India was given a target of 209 runs to win, which they achieved in just 15.2 overs. Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav delivered outstanding performances for India. Ishan scored 76 runs and Suryakumar remained unbeaten on 82. The first match of the T20 series between the two teams was played in Nagpur on January 21, which India won by 48 runs. With this victory, India has taken a 2-0 lead in the series. The third match of the series will be played in Guwahati on January 25.

Tim Seifert and Devon Conway added 43 runs for the first wicket. Harshit Rana gave India their first breakthrough by dismissing Conway (19 runs). Seifert was then trapped by spinner Varun Chakravarthy. Seifert scored 24 runs off 13 balls with the help of five fours.
Following this, a 55-run partnership for the third wicket ensued between Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra. Kuldeep Yadav broke this partnership by dismissing Phillips for 19 runs. Daryl Mitchell couldn't do much and was dismissed for 18 runs off a delivery from Shivam Dube. Then Kuldeep dismissed the hard-hitting Rachin Ravindra. Ravindra played a quickfire innings of 44 runs off 26 balls, which included two fours and four sixes. New Zealand lost their sixth wicket in the form of Mark Chapman (10 runs), who fell to Hardik Pandya. From there, captain Mitchell Santner and Zachary Foulkes forged a 47-run partnership off just 19 balls, propelling New Zealand to a big total. Santner remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 27 balls, including 6 fours and a six. Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful bowler for India, taking two wickets.
