Ind VS Eng 2nd Test Day-2 Gill missed his 300 runs, England score 77/3, England trail by 510 runs.

 India performed brilliantly with the ball after the bat on the second day. India scored 587 runs in the first innings, while also losing three wickets of England till stumps. England's team is currently trailing India by 510 runs.



Second day's play ends

The second day's play of the second Test match between India and England has ended. India's first innings were all out for 587 on the second day and India got off to a good start by taking three wickets of England. However, Harry Brook and Joe Root took charge of England by sharing 52 runs for the fourth wicket. By the end of the day's play, England have scored 77 runs for three wickets in the first innings and are still trailing India by 510 runs. At the time of stumps, Brook was at the crease with 30 and Root with 18 runs.



Akash Deep gave double success to the Indian team, which came out to play without Jasprit Bumrah. He gave early blows to England by taking two wickets in two consecutive balls. Akash first dismissed Ben Duckett by getting caught by Shubman Gill and then sent Ollie Pope to the pavilion on the very next ball. Duckett and Pope were out without opening the account. After this, Mohammad Siraj gave the third blow to England by dismissing Jack Crawley. Crawley was dismissed after scoring 19 runs off 30 balls with the help of three fours. 



Earlier, India managed to score a big score on the basis of captain Gill's double century. Gill first shared a 203-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja and then shared a 140+ run partnership with Washington Sundar.

Gill returned to the pavilion

Indian captain Shubman Gill was out after scoring 269 runs. Gill was batting brilliantly and was moving towards a triple century, but after the tea break, he gave an easy catch to Ollie Pope off Josh Tongue's ball. Gill hit 30 fours and three sixes in his innings of 387 balls. It is only due to Gill's strong batting that India has been able to cross the 570-run mark in the first innings.



India's first innings ends

On the second day of the second Test match against England, India's first innings was all out for 587 runs. Captain Shubman Gill performed brilliantly for India and scored 269 runs. Apart from Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored half-centuries, which helped India score a big score against England. For England, Shoaib Bashir took three wickets, while Chris Woakes and Josh Tongue took two wickets each. At the same time, Brydon Carse, Ben Stokes and Joe Root got one wicket each.

India resumed the innings on the second day at 310 for five. Gill and Jadeja batted brilliantly for India and added 203 runs for the sixth wicket. This partnership was broken by Josh Tongue by dismissing Jadeja. Jadeja returned to the pavilion after scoring 89 runs. After this, Gill took the innings forward with Washington Sundar and scored the first double century of his career. Before the tea break, India got the seventh blow in the form of Sundar. Sundar returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs. 



After the tea break, Gill also could not carry forward the innings for long and was out as the eighth batsman. When Gill was out, India's score was 574 runs. India lost its next two wickets at an interval of 13 runs. For India, Akash Deep was out after scoring six runs and Mohammed Siraj was out after scoring eight runs. Prasidh Krishna returned unbeaten after scoring five runs.
