Ind vs Eng day-1 By the end of day one, Jaiswal and Gill had scored hundreds, Pant also played a half-century inning, India's score is 359.

 Indian batsmen performed brilliantly on the opening day of the first Test match against England. While Gill and Yashasvi scored centuries, Pant remained present at the crease by scoring a half-century.

First day's play is over

The first day of the first Test match between India and England is over. India has scored 359 runs for three wickets in the first innings till stumps. By the end of the day's play, captain Shubman Gill was at the crease with 127 runs off 175 balls with the help of 16 fours and a six and vice-captain Rishabh Pant was at the crease with 65 runs off 102 balls with the help of six fours and two sixes. It was a great day for India and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Gill scored centuries, while Pant managed to score a half-century.



Earlier, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose fielding. Yashasvi and KL Rahul opened the innings for India and gave the team a great start. Both the batsmen added 91 runs for the first wicket. England got the first success from Brydon Carse who made Rahul his victim. Rahul was dismissed after scoring 42 runs. After this, Sai Sudarshan, who was playing his debut match, got out without opening the account. After the lunch break, Shubman came out to bat. Gill and Yashasvi did not let England get any success in the second session. Yashasvi scored a century in his first match in England. Ben Stokes broke the partnership between Gill and Yashasvi by dismissing Yashasvi. Yashasvi returned to the pavilion as the third batsman after scoring 101 runs. Then Pant came to the crease and took charge with Gill. Both these batsmen batted brilliantly and did not let England get success till the end of the day's play. Gill and Pant have so far added 138 runs for the fourth wicket and both of them will try to take India to a stronger position on the second day. So far Stokes has got two wickets and Cars has got one wicket for England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century



Yashasvi Jaiswal has returned to the pavilion after scoring a century. Yashasvi and Gill made a 129-run partnership for the third wicket which was broken by Ben Stokes by dismissing Yashasvi. England's bowlers were desperate for a wicket in the second session but they got Yashasvi's wicket in the start of the third session. Yashasvi was out after scoring 101 runs on 159 balls with the help of 16 fours and a six.
