Joe Root hit a century

Ibrahim Zadran scored a century

Liam Livingstone gave Afghanistan the sixth blow by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran in the last over. Zadran was dismissed after scoring 177 runs in 146 balls with the help of 12 fours and six sixes. This is the highest individual score by any player in the history of the Champions Trophy.

Afghanistan's innings ends

With the help of Ibrahim Zadran's innings of 177 runs, Afghanistan has set a target of 326 runs for England to win. Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first in this match, but its start was not good. England's fast bowler Jofra Archer gave three blows to Afghanistan in the beginning. However, Zadran along with Shahidi handled the innings and played a historic innings, due to which Afghanistan was able to score 325 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs. 

After the initial setbacks, Zadran along with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi made a partnership of 103 runs for the fourth wicket. Even after Shahidi was out, Zadran kept his innings going and scored a century. Even after this, he did not let the run rate slow down. Zadran hit 12 fours and six sixes in his innings of 146 balls and was able to make the highest individual score in the history of the Champions Trophy. This match is very important for both Afghanistan and England. 



 For Afghanistan, apart from Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 41 runs, Shahidi scored 40 runs and Mohammad Nabi scored 40 runs in 24 balls. Meanwhile, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 6, Sediqullah Atal scored 4 and Rahmat Shah was out after scoring 4 runs. For England, Archer took three wickets, while Liam Livingstone took two wickets and Jamie Overton and Adil Rashid got one wicket each.
