New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl  a decision they must have deeply regretted by the end. India came out swinging from ball one, and what followed was one of the most brutal batting displays you'll see in a World Cup final.

Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson set the tone with a blistering 98-run opening stand off just 43 balls. Sharma was the aggressor early, smashing 52 off 21 balls six fours, three sixes, strike rate of 247. Absolute carnage. Samson continued after his departure, eventually falling for 89 off 46 balls, having hit 5 sixes in a devastating middle-order stint.

Ishan Kishan came in at 3 and kept the foot firmly on the gas 54 off 25 balls, with 4 sixes and 4 fours, at a strike rate of 216. The Kiwi bowlers had no answers. Lockie Ferguson was taken apart for 48 runs off just 2 overs. Matt Henry and Jacob Duffy weren't spared either.

Shivam Dube finished things off in spectacular fashion, smacking 26 off just 8 balls (two sixes, three fours) to power India to 255/5 a monumental total for a World Cup final. James Neesham was the best of the bowlers with 3 wickets, but even he went for 46 off 4 overs.

Sanju Samson

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson batted brilliantly in the final. He scored 89 runs off 46 balls, including 5 fours and 8 sixes. Sanju and Abhishek added 98 runs for the first wicket, helping the Men in Blue post a mammoth total of 255. Sanju played a crucial role in India's victory.

Jasprit Bumrah

India's fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly in the final. He conceded just 15 runs in his four-over spell and took four wickets. Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. His bowling resulted in the Kiwis being bowled out for 159, helping India win the match.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan played a brilliant innings in the T20 World Cup 2026 final. He scored quickly after Abhishek Sharma's dismissal. Three batsmen scored half-centuries for India, and Kishan was one of them. Kishan scored 54 runs off 25 balls, including four fours and four sixes. His innings helped Team India cross the 200-run mark in 15 overs.

New Zealand chase: 159 all out in 19 overs

Chasing 256, New Zealand needed a miracle. They started decently Tim Seifert was absolutely swinging, piling on 52 off 26 balls with five sixes. For a brief moment it felt like there might be a game on. But India's bowlers methodically dismantled the rest of the lineup.

Jasprit Bumrah was the star with the ball 4 wickets for just 15 runs off 4 overs. Cold, clinical, unplayable. Axar Patel was equally miserly, picking up 3 wickets for 27. Hardik Pandya chipped in with a wicket as well, while Varun Chakravarthy and Abhishek Sharma also took one each.
