Ind vs Ban CT Mohammed Shami took 5 wickets. Shubman Gill's century powered India to a glorious victory.

 The Indian bowlers performed brilliantly and restricted Bangladesh to 228 runs in 49.4 overs. In reply, India won the match by scoring 231 runs for four wickets in 46.3 overs thanks to Gill's unbeaten 101 runs off 129 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

After the brilliant bowling of fast bowler Mohammad Shami, vice-captain Shubman Gill's excellent century helped India to a winning start to the tournament by defeating Bangladesh by six wickets in their first match of the Champions Trophy. Led by Shami, the Indian bowlers performed brilliantly and restricted Bangladesh to 228 runs in 49.4 overs. In reply, India won the match by scoring 231 runs for four wickets in 46.3 overs, thanks to Gill's unbeaten 101 runs off 129 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes.

Excellent partnership of Hridoy-Zakir

Earlier, Bangladesh set a target of 229 runs for India to win with the help of Tauheed Hridoy's century and Zakir Ali's half-century. After winning the toss and batting first, Bangladesh's situation was bad at one time and it lost five wickets for just 35 runs, but Zakir and Hridoy handled the Bangladesh innings with a great partnership. The partnership of 154 runs for the sixth wicket between Zakir Ali and Tauheed Hridoy is the biggest partnership for the sixth or lower order wicket in the Champions Trophy. Hridoy returned to the pavilion after scoring 100 runs with the help of six fours and two sixes in 118 balls.

Shami completed 200 wickets

Indian team's fast bowler Mohammad Shami performed brilliantly in the Champions Trophy match against Bangladesh. He has become the bowler to complete 200 wickets in ODI in the least number of balls. Shami achieved this feat in 5126 ODI balls. In this matter, Shami left behind Australia's star fast bowler Mitchell Starc who had completed 200 ODI wickets in 5240 balls.

India's innings

While chasing the target, captain Rohit Sharma and Gill gave India a good start, but Rohit was out after scoring 41 runs. Rohit, however, completed 11000 runs in ODIs and became the fourth Indian batsman to reach this milestone. After this, the team lost the wickets of Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. Kohli scored 22 runs, Shreyas scored 15 and Axar scored eight runs. After this, KL Rahul along with Gill made an unbeaten partnership of 87 runs for the fifth wicket. KL Rahul remained unbeaten after scoring 41 runs in 47 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.

Eighth century in least number of innings

Gill batted brilliantly against Bangladesh. Gill was in good form in the three-match ODI series against England before the Champions Trophy and he maintained this form here as well. Gill completed his eighth century in 51 innings and became the batsman to reach the eighth ODI century in least number of innings for India. He surpassed Shikhar Dhawan in this matter who completed his eighth century in ODI in 57 innings.
